Pioneer Club donates food items, $700 to Catholic Charities

MATTOON – Members of the Consolidated Communications Iverson A. Lumpkin Chapter of the Independent Telecommunications Pioneers of America Club recently donated $700 and boxes of non-perishable food items to Catholic Charities.

Consolidated Communications employees, retirees and their family members participated in the Pioneer Club’s recent Casino Night to raise funds for the charity.

One of the goals of the Pioneer Club is to give back to the communities where employees live and work. “We organize many fundraisers throughout the year so we can make donations to organizations like Catholic Charities and help them serve those in need,” said Pioneer Club President Joy Kelley. “We are excited to make this donation and proud of our employees for supporting the Pioneer Club throughout the year.”

The Mattoon-based chapter of the Pioneer Club is part of the national Telecommunications Pioneers organization. Membership is open to employees and retirees of Consolidated Communications. The club also awards scholarships to the children and grandchildren of Pioneer Club members each year, and since 1990, has presented more than $93,750 in scholarships.
